An olympiad-style tournament where teams solve, bet and outthink each other, from anywhere in the world. One problem. Three hours. Every point earned.
MT² is an online mathematics tournament for olympiad students of every country. Teams face each other in head-to-head matches built around original problems created by the team leaders and approved by the board. Beyond pure solving, MT² adds a layer of strategy: a points betting system, organizing group work ...
Everything a team needs to know before entering the arena.
3 to 5 contestants from any country, plus a leader. with the condition of having at least 2 students who haven't participated as a team A in these olympiads:
The leader tutors the team, suggests problems and crafts original ones for matches. His work is counted individually not with the group work. He defends his team and represents it during negociations ...
Each week is one round. Leaders register weekly for board matchmaking, earning 50 points per game. Teams must play at least 2 games every 3 consecutive weeks to avoid a 150-point penalty. If registrations are odd, one team plays twice. Teams may request specific opponents or schedule extra games by mutual agreement, but cannot face the same opponent in 3 consecutive games.
Every team starts with 2000 points. Bets run 200 to 500; the minimum bet is applied to both sides and the winner takes all. Below 400 you go all-in.
Matches live inside a 48-hour window with a strict 3-hour exam on Discord. Screen, webcam and microphone are all recorded with OBS and submitted to the board.
There is no tie-breaker: a tie is no win and no loss, and scores stay untouched. International friendships are encouraged, but never mandatory. Good luck!
MT² did not begin in a notebook. It began in a room in Sweden, during a quiz organized by Alisher, a student from Uzbekistan. Teams had earned points all evening, and when the scores were counted, three teams, including our founder's team, were tied for first place.
To break the tie, Alisher invented something on the spot: each team bets a part of its points for the right to answer one extra question. The tension of that moment, the strategy, the nerves, the courage, never left our founder's mind. The notebooks came later: he took that spark and built a full tournament system around it, with team values, leaders, hints and proctored 3-hour matches, so that every olympiad student can feel the same thrill.
MT² proudly credits Alisher's tie-breaker bet as the original spark of the game.
Registration is open to olympiad students worldwide. Leaders may be up to one year after high-school graduation.
